According to a recent study conducted by vulnerability management provider eEye Digital Security, nearly 50% of IT personnel get threats from malware which has become most important security concern. Marc Maiffret, eEye chief technology officer said that "Most of the IT professionals are worried about the everyday malware and they cost money as well as time to clean up systems from malware.
Maiffret also told Infosecurity that it was interesting that as an industry they are struggling to get their hands around every day malware without even worrying about the targeted attacks. It is very difficult for the companies having two to three IT department workers to take care of the security. He concluded that one of the reasons companies are struggling, with the everyday malware.
Protect Against Phishing Scams With Spyware Filters

Phishing scams may be on the rise after the recent data breach at Epsilon, in which millions of email addresses have fallen into the wrong hands. Besides setting your email spam and spyware filters to the highest level, there are other things you can do to protect against phishing scams.
For one thing, you should set up your email account so that you can view emails without opening them. Hackers who know your email address and the companies you do business with are better able to send you emails that look real but are designed to trick you into revealing account numbers and passwords. Many phishing scams try to alarm you so you'll click on an enclosed link, which will take you to a counterfeit site that looks like a real corporate site but can capture critical information and also install spyware that can capture and transmit key strokes on your computer. Thus you should be very careful about clicking any links in emails.
Anti-Spam and Spyware Filters

When small to mid-size businesses consider the need to install anti-spam and spyware filters, they often find that the appliances are complex to deploy. In a live environment these applications must be able to filter email coming into a number of real accounts. One anti-spam program, from the UK-based CronLab, claims that it requires only a ten minute installation, and it is less complex than other solutions because there is no need to configure mail servers or clients.
Part of the reason that this solution is so easy to install is that rather than a software program, it is actually supplied as hardware, a low-profile 1U rack server, to be exact. This is an elegant solution for a server room, however, in an office it can be very irritating because it's blower fan creates a lot of noise. A local connection to the CLI is required for the initial installation, and from then on you use the appliance's intuitive web interface.
